ABOUT THE CENTER
Who We Are
The Center for Global Peace and Democracy is an independent, non-partisan 501(c)(3) educational foundation, the purpose of which is to undertake research and educational projects on the political, economic and social crises confronting the United States in the context of a global society.
What We Do
The Center for Global Peace and Democracy has assembled a research group from among members of the academic and professional community to explore global socio-political/socio-economic issues across a broad, international spectrum of context; the intent is to explore these issues in depth, with the purpose of disseminating the findings to the public, through educational forums, conferences, streaming media and writings, in order to stimulate public awareness and conversation. It is our aim to be a "university without walls."
The Center for Global Peace and Democracy currently sponsors two major educational projects: the Alameda Public Affairs Forum, which offers monthly live-event presentations on matters of local, national and/or international interest, archived as streaming media and the eZine New Beginnings, where articles of interest, book reviews, working papers, commentary, as well as other publications and resources are presented.
Our Goal
In its educational outreach efforts, the goal of the Center for Global Peace and Democracy is to enhance human understanding and reason as the primary means by which individuals can work together, free of coercion or manipulation, toward peaceful, just, equitable and environmentally sound solutions for the problems facing the world and its global citizens.
